NASA AIS Radar
The NASA AIS Radar is intended primarily for leisure craft. It
receives transmissions from AIS transponder carrying vessels and
displays the information on a radar like display. The unit consists
of a dual-frequency AIS Receiver, demodulator, signal processor and
backlit matrix display. Any vessel on the screen can be selected,
with its details (as outlined on the previous page) appearing on the
right of the screen. A zoom feature allows a range from 1 to 32
Nautical Miles. A proximity alarm feature can then be activated
which sounds when a vessel enters a preset range. |
